A record number of writers and artists submitted work for the 150th edition of Reed Magazine. We opened our minds to this symphony of voices to present Reed's most expansive collection ever of poetry, personal essays, short stories, and art to tell the story of Silicon Valley and California on the threshold of the twenty-first century. Nine pieces are from authors born or living outside the United States or writing about experiences as refugees or immigrants. Of the twenty-two poets, ten, including our first high school poets are from California, mostly the Bay Area. Other authors hail from fifteen American states including notable contingents from New York, Oregon, and North Carolina.
